  • DELIVERABLES

    The integration of renewable energy systems in the “Community” of Democritus University of Thrace includes:
    • Self-consumption PV system of 50kWp
    • Electric bicycle charging station using PV energy
    • Hybrid biomass/solar thermal system for heating, cooling and domestic hot water of total power of 3.2 MWth
    • Autonomous wind station of 1kW for electric bicycles charging
    • Shallow geothermal energy system with water to water heat pumps of total power of 200 kWth and one Air Handling Unit for heating, cooling and domestic hot water of the Restaurant of the “Community”

  • INTERVENTIONS

    The interventions included in REUNI project target the increase of the use of Renewable Energy Sources’ technologies and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) within the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH). The interventions will be implemented at “Kimmeria” of Municipality of Xanthi, Region of East Macedonia & Thrace, at private area of DUTH.

The project “The contribution of RES to the sustainable growth and operation of Democritus University Thrace – Development of a Sustainable Community” is being implemented by Democritus University of Thrace. The project is funded by EEA Grants (GR03 Renewable Energy Sources) with total budget of 1,800,365,.78 EUR.

Project duration: The project duration is from  1st of October 2015 until 30th of April 2017.

Budget: 1,800,365.78 EUR | EEA Grants Contribution 85%: 1,530,310.91 EUR
